"What you are striving for is magic, not perfection."
What Business are you really in
1) Nothing matters more then thinking and talking about new ideas.
2) Whom do you consider competion?
3) I think anybody dealing in the leisure world, or the education world, or the world of dealing with people's available time is a competitor.
4) Some of our biggest competitors are not based in the United States, such as the Bertelsmanns, Newscorps, and Polygrams. Then there are some key United States competitors such as Time Warner. But any company entertaining or informing people is competition for us.
5) We, as a company, decided that there are two places that we can deal with people-in the home and outside the home.
6) I want to know, 'How good is the show? How entertaining is the movie? How does the food in the park taste?' I focus maniacal attention on the product because I have learned through my years in the business that a hit in our industry tends to wash away all of our incompetencies.
7) So, the number-one thing, maybe the only thing, we judge day in and day out, is the quality of our product.
Going forward
8) I hope the Disney board will try forever to have its top people come from the creative side of the company.
9) I think that even in the most mundane industry you could ever find, · if the person who's running it is creative I think you'll find that they will come up with products that are interesting.))
10) In other words, just strive for excellence at each place you are in your life at that time. If you do, I think you end up doing better."
